Henry (age 9) and Bethany (age 7) will be running 3km at Leeds Docks as part of the British Transplant Games 2022. They are running to raise awareness of the Transplant Games which bring together organ transplant recipients from all over the UK, and to support other families like ours.

As most people know, Nick was unexpectedly diagnosed with kidney failure at the age of 27. Although he received a transplant in 2012 this has now failed and he returned to dialysis in January 2020. The combination of this and Covid lockdowns made for a very strange year but Henry & Bethany took it all in their stride and we are very proud of them both. They wish every day that their Daddy will get another transplant and be healthy again, but we have all learned to make the most of the days we have. They are running to raise money for Kidney Care UK because they want to help other families affected by kidney disease.

Running for over 40 years, The Westfield Health British Transplant Games are a celebration of life. Taking place in different host cities every Summer, the games see teams from hospitals across the UK come together to compete in a medley of sports. The 4-day event attracts around 1000 transplant athletes and more than 1700 supporters. This year the Games are in Leeds 28-31st July.
