Story
Dear Family and Friends,
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. I’m running on behalf of the brother of a good friend of mine, Abu Shahim ‘Kukon’, who suffered from severe mental health issues and sadly passed away at the young age of 19. This year will mark his 20th year since he passed.
As a society, we have made great strides in mental health awareness. Unfortunately, not everyone understands mental health problems. Members of the BAME community (particularly the South Asian community), and more specifically young adult men, are often misdiagnosed and do not receive the correct care due to the stigma surrounding mental health issues.
To raise awareness of mental health amongst young men and people of colour, we will be running the London Landmarks Half Marathon (21km) on the 2nd of April and raising money for Mind, a mental health charity.
Any contribution you make, no matter how small, will go directly to the charity and will be humbly received.
Thank you for your support!!
