On the 28th May 2020 we got the devastating news that our Riley, age 5, had lost his sight because of brain tumours found in his head. It was during the first COVID-19 lockdown and the strain on Riley’s family was huge. No-one was allowed to visit, no-one was allowed to help and we all vowed once we could we would do all we could to show our own support for Riley and everyone else affected by this.

RNIB have set a challenge for January called the ‘250 challenge’. We have chosen to walk 250,000 steps each by the end of January 2022. This might not seem that unachievable for some but for a few team members this is a big push and will be a challenge.

Riley, now age 7, has endured more in the last 19 months than any little boy should. He has had 2 major brain operations to remove the tumours found. He developed Epilepsy off the back of the diagnosis of Tuberous Sclerosis, a possible genetic condition that he has and now also wears a hearing aid, uses a cane and has learnt braille to aid his everyday life. He continues to take daily medication and undergoes regular MRI scans.

He never shows himself to be scared or worried about anything that life has thrown at him and he continues to smile and be excited about life. He is a true inspiration to everyone around him and is our brave little man.
