Story
Our family and friends are raising funds for Inspire Cancer Research Foundation in memory of our mum Kim Beechener.
1 in 2 people will be affected by cancer in their lifetime. But we can do something about it.
Our mum was unfortunately diagnosed with skin cancer in 2002 when she was 46. She became a patient of Professor Neville Davidson in 2007, where she was diagnosed with stage 4 Melanoma. She began a chemo regime of gold standard drugs and was informed that research into chemotherapy drugs showing positive results were hopefully going to be brought onto the market soon. Fortunately, this transpired and in June 2012 she started a series of immunotherapy drugs. Managing this disease could not have happened without the dedicated and focused research into breakthrough therapies that this foundation supports.
Sadly, our mum passed away in November 2017, however knowing that research is ongoing provided our family with hope that there will one day be a cure for cancer. We are extremely grateful for the 11 extra years Professor Davidson and his team gave us and know that research will help many, many others in the future. So, in memory of our mum Kim a team of us will be running the Cancer Research Winter 10K to celebrate the strongest, fun, loving, loyal, inspirational lady we all love.
