Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our Team Keir 2015 JustGiving page.
Our annual Team Keir fundraising event is always special, and this one in so many ways. Glenelg holds happy memories of times spent at Duntrodden turf-roof house with Christine, Paul, Drew and Gus - the last time we were there, in 2003, I was expecting Keir, and Finn was just a wee toot of almost three. 13 June, the date of this walk, is 3 days before Keir's 11th birthday; this will be the third year we have had to celebrate his birth without him here. Lots of 3s ... Lewis has a plan to get a Baker's Dozen team of 13 and wear chefs hats, as Keir loved baking with his on! But our team may be fewer than that, or it might end up being 33, who knows! Whatever happens, we will enjoy the walk, Glenelg, and the company of friends, and remember and miss our beautiful boy.
This year, with your help, we hope to raise funds for CHAS. CHAS helped our family in many different ways from the time of Keir's diagnosis with pulmonary arterial hypertension in November 2009, and I am honoured now to be working for them. The CHAS at Home team here in Inverness travels over 8,000 miles a year to provide emotional, practical and nursing support to families in their own homes, however remote, as well as taking children and families on outings and other social activities. CHAS at Home also help families to access short breaks and respite care at Rachel or Robin House, and all other hospice services as and when required.
Please know that any amount you are able to donate will be helping the only charity in Scotland that provides hospice services for babies, children, young people and their families. It costs over £9m per year to run CHAS services, that's £25,000 per day. Your support will keep this vital help going for families who need it - thank you so much.
