We raise awareness of organ donation to encourage people to sign the register
Story
Team Jess all have one thing in common and one reason to do the Adidas 5k... and that reason is Jessica Wales.
I promised Jessica that this year we would do this 5k together, hand in hand to raise awareness about Organ Donation and transplantation. Sadly she won’t be by my side when I take part in September, as Jess lost her battle in January this year.
Jess , who was an advocate for the charity Live Life Then Give Life, suffered from Cystic Fibrosis. She waited 4 long years for her double lung transplant which she finally received in December 09. Jess fought to the end but sadly complications took hold, and her body was too weak to cope as her wait for her transplant had been too long. After fighting so hard for herself, and for others, Jessica Wales passed away on January 12th 2010.
Jess was just 20 years old, had a bright future and great plans. She was an inspiration to many and touched the hearts and lives of everyone she met; I feel blessed to have known her and privileged to call her my friend.
Love and Miss you always Jess, love Holly x

Jess was passionate about raising awareness of Organ Donation and this is what she was going to dedicate her life to after her transplant. Myself, Jackie Wales (Jess’ Mum) and the rest of Team Jess are taking part in the Adidas 5k to carry on spreading the word, and ensure that her legacy lives on. We are determined to make her proud!

Live Life Give Life aims to raise awareness of organ donation and encourage people to register as organ donors. We educate via campaigns and events, also funding initiatives to improve the welfare of (and outcome for) patients awaiting transplants, whilst also supporting their families.
