Story
In August 2018 our Nation Citizen Service group visited Snowdon mental health facility run by Together UK in Woking. Whilst there, we were introduced to several service users who were using this programme to get their lives back on track. The facility aims to provide a stable environment where service users can learn skills to become more independent despite past issues. On our visit we spoke to service users about various hopes and aspirations ranging from becoming actors to computer engineers, and, in our opinion, the most moving of all, to feel as though they have a family again. Our goal is to raise money for the service users to go to an activity centre. Something us as young people did on our NCS journey, this helped us to trust each other and grow and as a community.
We want the service users at Snowdon to have the same opportunity to become a close community, helping them on their road to recovery, and remind them that although they are learning about Independence, they are never truly alone.
