Story
In 2013 we lost my wonderful Dad at the age of 92. He had received some excellent and very useful support from Blind Veterans UK, just wished we had found out about them earlier in his life. He had been blind in one eye for many years and as he got older his sight in his other eye started to fail him. However he was a man of great achievement and challenges and ran countless marathons and half marathons - his last one at 81 years of age. Prior to that he had been a great cyclist - smashing many club records ! Always excelling at sport!
He got help via Blind Veterans as he had served all through the War for his country and was called up at just 18. He was a survivor of the Battle at Arnhem and was in the 1st Airborne Division. This shaped him to become the kind, gentle man he was, who lived for his family.
This year 2021 he would be celebrating 100 years! So as someone who is not a naturally sporty person and someone who has put those Covid pounds on I decided it was time to remember my Dad this year and add some more funds to his Tribute Fund and some more donations to this wonderful charity.
So with that in mind I am attempting ( hopefully with my husband Neil and maybe my daughter and her partner ) joining in when they can to help clock up the 1408km or 875 miles!!!!!
