Story
Emma and Fran are taking on a challenging trek through the Sumatran jungle while raising vital funds to help cats and kittens here in the UK!
Why do they want to take on this challenge?
Emma: I started volunteering at CP IOW in July 2016, helping to clean the pen environments of the cats in care and enrich their time in care through play, grooming and building trust with humans. I also began attending fundraising events and loved the opportunity to get into the community and meet people, spread the word about the good Cats Protection do! In April 2019 I became a staff member, the Volunteer Team Leader, and still recruit and manage the 60+ volunteers who help our centre achieve the amazing things it does every day. I love to travel, but never even thought of Sumatra as a destination before this Challenge came up! I've always loved big cats as much as our domestic furry babies, and the idea of taking on a fundraising challenge that would support both sounded like a dream. Fundraising is not easy in times where we are all conscious of what we are spending, but so many people out there are so generous to animals who cannot fend for themselves, so I know we can do amazing things together!
Fran: I've been a volunteer for CP IOW for ten years now, and have taken on fundraising challenges for the adoption centre before, like ziplining and abseiling. We're going to see the last Indonesian Tiger species, of which there are only about 400 left. I'm a crazy cat lady so I want to help all the different kinds of cats in this world!
