Story

Thank you for taking the time to visit Team Hugo's On the Move JustGiving page.

In July 2015 Hugo was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia, aged just 2. For just over 3 years he endured chemotherapy and other mediation with their gruelling side effects. He had hospital stays for pneumonia, liver failure and infections. His muscles weakened and he was unable to walk at all for 9 months. He has spent, days, weeks and months of his life in hospital and has taken daily medication for over half his life.

In September 2016 we asked people to 'travel' the rest of his 'journey' with him to raise money for Bloodwise, a charity that have been amazing in their support of Hugo and our whole family.

Team Hugo's Army were amazing. They baked, quizzed, run, cut their hair off and climbed mountains (to name but a few).

All money raised has been going directly towards a grant for Professor Enver's work, which is trying to find more effective and safer treatments for childhood leukaemia.

Hugo finally finished treatment in September 2018. He is now 6 years old and is thriving off treatment. Now he starts a new journey, one of remission, recovery and dealing with any long term side effects.

To finish off our Team Hugo On the Move fundraising with a bang, I will be taking part in the Virgin London Marathon on 28 April 2019. 26.2 miles around London in what I hope will be an amazing day. The training has been bumpy, but I am determined to get round. Every penny donated with be so very gratefully received, put in extremely good use and will also be great motivation for the long miles ahead.

Thank you so much to everyone for supporting Team Hugo x
