Story
Helen is 50 the day before this Banger Rally starts. Milestone birthdays remind you that life is precious and family and friends are a real blessing. So with 3 - also amazing - friends, we're driving to Pompeii in Helen's Dad's car as part of the St Austell Banger Rally. He loved its air suspension so lets hope its a comfortable ride! We are raising funds in memory of amazing Maisie so that, one day, babies like Maisie do not have to die. For every donation of £10 or more, we'll write your name (or a name you nominate) on a butterfly sticker that will decorate the car. The more you donate, the bigger the butterfly! Maisie came to Helen's toddler group at 1 week old - this is her story:
Maisie was a fighter. When she was just two weeks old she battled open heart surgery and sepsis and was diagnosed as being deaf. Her family hoped that this was the worst of it, but she was diagnosed with severe hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, and mitochondrial disease.Mitochondrial disease is not very well known, yet everyday in the UK a child is born with it, it's life limiting and currently there is no treatment or cure. After her diagnosis her family although devastated were determined to make the most of everyday with her. Sadly at just 6 months after becoming ill with an infection, Maisie had a cardiac arrest and died in her parents arms. Her parents are determined that Maisie's life wasn't in vain, and we're helping by raising money Please support us if you can and visit www.thelilyfoundation.org.uk to find out more about what they do and how the money we raise will make a difference.Thank You
