Trust me, 10 years means beating lots of odds! I'm thrilled to still be breathing with my Beautiful Lungs from my donor, Bernadette! We need a Cure for Rejection so that I can continue to Breathe Easily for many years to come!

Eventual complications after lung transplant are inevitable. The immune system’s rejection of the donor lungs can be slowed, but not stopped entirely. Also, the necessary powerful immune-suppressing drugs have unavoidable side effects, including diabetes, kidney damage, and vulnerability to infections. For these reasons, long-term survival after a lung transplant is not as promising as it is after other organ transplants, like kidney or liver.

I've created this page because I want to make a difference. I'm inspired by the work of the Lung Transplant Foundation and wanted to support them by raising money as part of my participation in the Lungaversary campaign.
