Together with local communities Children on the Edge co-create protective environments where children can safely live, play, learn, and grow.
Children on the Edge was sparked into life by Dame Anita Roddick in 1990. The Body Shop at Home has faithfully supported their work since 1995, raising more than £3 million and changing thousands of lives.
Children on the Edge gives the very youngest refugees the chance to learn, play and have the best possible start in life. With 1,000,000 neurons firing per second in the brain of a small child as they investigate, chatter and play; early childhood is a crucial time for their brains to develop and to learn foundations for life. In Uganda, Children on Edge helps refugee communities to provide early years education. Thousands of children are cut off from learning, buildings are overloaded and huge numbers are unreached. To meet this need, small gatherings in safe communal spaces enable thousands more children to learn and play every week.
