Story

Jason Nixon used to be in my team at work. A more pleasant and amiable chap you could not wish to meet - despite his preference for egg chasing over football. He died unexpectedly aged 40 on February the 5 2013 leaving behind a wife and a newborn baby. The cause was attributed as Aortic Dissection, which his son, Joshua, may also have inherited

Myself, Marie Jensen, Dino Gelmetti, Luke Jowers,  as a team of 4- are dedicating our run of the BUPA London 10k on May 27 to Jason’s memory – and ask if you would consider recognizing this by supporting research into this disorder, that ultimately we may help his son and others like him.

Rob.   Please read on.

Jason Nixon, my husband, best friend and father to our newborn baby, Joshua Nixon, died unexpectedly from an aortic dissection on 5th February 2013. It has ripped our world apart.

Aortic dissection is incredibly rare in a man of only 40 and it is possible that this may have been due to an inherited disorder. Our son will therefore now also be regularly monitored. If caught in time, tears in the aorta can be surgically repaired and a dissection prevented. Had mechanisms been in place to identify this in Jason some years ago intervention may have enabled him to live.

This fund will enable more research into this and similar areas and so we are grateful for your support.

 Love Vicky & Josh
