Story
Haswell and District Mencap are a charity aimed at
providing services, activities and support to people with a learning
disability, their families & careers.
We will be raising money that will help fund a much
needed sensory garden at the centre with the purpose of
stimulating the senses. This stimulation occurs courtesy of plants and the use of materials that engage one’s senses of sight, smell, touch, taste, and sound.
Hayley Hood of MENCAP said
"we provide activities for over 100 adults with a learning disability who will all receive the benefits of this wonderful project. Sensory gardens are popular with and beneficial to both
children and adults, especially those who have learning disabilities. This project will extend to the wider community to use and enjoy our space and we just can’t wait to get started!"
