Story

A challenge isn't a challenge, unless it really pushes you. For those who know me well, know that I don't do things by halves. So... In 2023 I have committed to:

  • Walk 1000 miles outdoors in 12 months (not including daily steps)
  • Trek over the #JurassicCoastChallenge, 100km from Dorset's Corfe Castle to Bridport over two days on May 13th and 14th.
  • Hike the #ThreePeaksChallenge, considered one of Britain's toughest outdoor challenges: Ben Nevis (1,344m), Scafell Pike (978mm), and Yr Wyddfa (1,085m) on June 17th - in under 24 hours !!  A huge thanks to my friend Stephen Slough, who has joined up to be involved to help raise sponsorship, and awareness for this amazing cause.  Stephen and I can be found on regular stomps across the South Coast Path.  We're getting our training in !!  Look out for his fury companion Oreo (the dog), who brings great companionship to a walk.  Do not underestimate his small stature, his energy levels are infinite and he's not to be messed with.

Why am I doing this?

I have lived experience with mental health which led me to being diagnosed with depression in 2011, and almost taking my own life, thankfully I am still here today to share my story.  I want to take part in these big challenges to push myself, physically and mentally beyond anything I have done before to help raise awareness, and vital funds for those suffering with mental health problems. Sadly, I've lost five friends who have died by suicide. It's a tragic loss of life which leaves a massive impact on those left behind; family, friends, work colleagues. The good news is that we can ALL help.

It's an ambitious fundraising target, it's also the hardest physical and mental challenge I will have yet thrown myself at yet. I hope you'll back me with your support, and willingness to donate to this cause - thank you!
