Story
Team Dorset is fundraising for Hospice Huntsville's
2021 virtual Hike for Hospice. Putting on successful
fundraisers for Hospice Huntsville last year and this is not been easy. This year more than ever Hospice needs your support. Please consider giving generously to this remarkable organization that continues to provide compassionate end-of-life care and support in extremely challenging times.
This year I have a more personal reason for fundraising for the Hike. I have always believed in fundraising for Hospice Huntsville to ensure they can continue to provide the important end-of-life care and services at no cost to the individual, care giver or family. This year more than ever this is true for me. Last year was a challenging year for all of us and during it my mom passed away at the age of 95. As it turns out I was able to help my siblings by being her primary caregiver for the last two weeks of her life. My sister had set up hospice care with a local organization and they were amazing. Although it was not the familiar faces at Hospice Huntsville they were the same kind of people providing reliable, caring, thoughtful and compassionate care for my mom and support to the family losing her. We were part way home when we received the call my mom had died and we were able to turn around and have a celebration of her life safely gathered outdoors.
This year I will be fundraising for Hospice Huntsville in memory of a remarkable and inspiring woman: my mom.
My Hike challenge will be a km a day from May 2nd - May 31st in support of the compassionate end-of-life care provided by Hospice Huntsville.
