Story
Amazing how time flies. Welcome to Miles for Matheny once again.
Our son Bryan, who is now 31, has Angelman Syndrome, which is a rare genetic disorder that causes global developmental delays. Bryan receives all of his support from the Matheny Medical and Educational Center, a special hospital focused on medical, education, and full life care 24/7, 365 days a year for children and adults with severe medical conditions and complex disabilities.
As many of you know, before entering Matheny, Bryan was constantly in and out of emergency rooms with scary long hospital stays. This year’s Miles is quite momentous for our family, as it marks 20 years for Bryan at Matheny. For two decades Bryan has been receiving the best in medical care, therapies, education, and support from the incredible, life-changing professional staff and care workers at Matheny.
Miles for Matheny is an annual fundraiser (biking, running of course the wheelchair walk for all ages) that brings together the wonderful patients, families, and community members in a celebration of the extraordinary work Matheny does.
Let us make a difference together! Many of you are to thank for these unprecedented 20 years of health and well-being for our son. For years, you have supported Team Desatnick during Miles for Matheny, and we cannot thank you enough for that! Whether you have been involved with Team Desatnick since 2003 or are just learning about Matheny for the first time, please know we have the upmost gratitude for your support. Our goal is to get as many donations as possible, and your donation in any amount is greatly appreciated.
We hope you will join us in celebrating the abilities of the people Matheny serves. We are so grateful for anything you can do to support this wonderful event. Feel free to reach out with any questions.
