We make lifesaving connections to help more patients survive and thrive

Story

This year for Central Staffs CrossFit’s charity hike, we will completing the Yorkshire 3 Peaks!

The chosen charity for this hike is Anthony Nolan, the charity that enables people with blood cancer by finding them stem cell donors. It holds a very special place in members/team Anne and Andy’s hearts, whose close friend, James, was saved by a stem cell transplant matched through Anthony Nolan.

In August 2018, James was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia, a blood cancer that primarily affects young people. The cancer had progressed quite far, and was difficult to treat, eventually requiring a full stem cell transplant. The donor for the treatment was found in Germany by the Anthony Nolan charity. Without Anthony Nolan, James would no longer be with us.

To support this life-saving charity, we will be hiking the Yorkshire 3 Peaks, covers 40 km over 12 hours on 11th September. This covers: Pen-y-ghent, Whernside, and Ingleborough. It is surely no small feat, but Team CSC loves a challenge!
