Story

Chartwell Cancer Trust (CCT) have joined with Croydon Health Services NHS Trust to raise £750,000 to support the development of a children's cancer unit in Croydon.

Through it's Lily Pad Appeal, CCT will fund a dedicated treatment facility for children with cancer living in the borough, housed within the hospital's brand new state-of-the-art Paediatric Integrated Unit.

Both Scott and I have a vested interest in the Lily Pad Appeal, me in my role as Chief Executive and Place Based Leader for Health in Croydon and Scott as the supportive husband of our Chief Nurse and Executive Lead of our Paediatric Integrated Unit.

Each year, Croydon Health Services NHS Trust cares for almost 52,000 young people. With your help, in this new unit we can provide even better care, closer to home, for many of our sickest patients.

In September Scott and Matthew completed the grueling 100km Ultrachallenge and you may have expected Matthew to hang up his trainers for a well deserved rest. No! Matthew is running an additional 26.2 miles by taking part in the London Marathon on Sunday 3 October to support this vital appeal. Thank you for your support.
