Story
On September 12th 2009 Christopher Henry Tickle suffered a severe neck injury when a Rugby Scrum collapsed. He died in hospital three weeks later. Christopher was a highly popular 23 year old with a great love of life and sports, an infectious sense of humour and a willingness to help others. His legacy has been to inspire a wide range of fund-raising activities to support research into spinal injuries. The Christopher Tickle Fund has joined up with The Nicholls Spinal Injury Foundation and all funds raised in Christopher’s name will be channelled towards this vitally important research.
Christopher lived in Tyldesley Greater Manchester, he played rugby for Eccles RFC and was posthumously awarded The Duke of Edinburgh’s Gold Award on 16 March 2010 by HRH Prince Phillip.
Team Christopher was formed by Julie Knight (our team captain and Christopher’s Aunty) in June 2012 with an objective to run The Great Manchester 10k Run in May 2013.
She was soon joined by members of Christopher’s family and friends. Team Christopher has 20 runners which includes his father, several uncles, cousins and close family friends.
By donating your money to The Christopher Tickle Fund and The Nicholls Spinal Injury Foundation, you’ll be helping us rewrite the future of millions of people worldwide living with paralysis caused by spinal cord injury. Every pound raised puts us one step closer to a cure.
