June Wiseman, a Director at BMG Research, passed away in 2019 at the age of just 52. June had worked tirelessly for many years to help make BMG the success it continues to be today. As well as being a great person to work with, a hugely supportive and inspirational line manager, June was also a very dear friend to many of us.

June was a keen supporter of Heart Research UK. Through pioneering research and accessible education, Heart Research UK aims to reduce the number of people developing and dying from heart disease, while improving and extending the lives of those affected.

It therefore seems fitting for us to create a lasting legacy for June, to raise money for this charity and in doing so help save the lives of others, in memory of June.

Our goal is to raise £35,000 by the end of BMG Research's 35th anniversary year in 2023. All money raised will go towards the June Wiseman Memorial Fund which will be used to fund Masterclasses hosted by Heart Research UK.

These unique Masterclasses bring together heart experts from around the world. They give surgeons, doctors, nurses, physiotherapists and other health professionals the opportunity to gain new skills, knowledge and hands-on experience from leading experts in the
field, so that more heart patients from across the UK can benefit and ultimately help health professionals to save more lives.

In some cases, there are limited opportunities for heart surgeons to gain first-hand experience of the latest surgical techniques, therefore cardiac surgery masterclasses allow leading, eminent surgeons to share their knowledge and expertise of often life-saving surgical techniques with other surgeons.  Topics of previous masterclasses have included heart bypass operation techniques, aortic surgery, heart transplantation, and minimally-invasive heart valve surgery. 

Funding a Masterclass is a lasting legacy and would be of benefit to heart surgeons and patients for many years to come. More information on the masterclasses can be found at https://heartresearch.org.uk/masterclasses-2/
