Story
From team leader Nick: When I was diagnosed with MDS in 2015 it was pretty devastating. I’d been a keen cyclist for many years and wondered why I’d suddenly been struggling to keep up with my mates. MDS was the answer, and although I have trilineage dysplasia I am fortunate that my disease has not been aggressive and I can still live a pretty normal life, including cycling – albeit a lot slower!
I am also lucky to have great treatment from Dr Mike Dennis at The Christie in Manchester and after a bit of arm twisting Mike has already signed up to be part of our team and ride the 160Km (100 mile) route.
MDS patient support does some amazing work supporting people with MDS, their families and carers and like most small charities has suffered a huge loss of income during the pandemic!
We appreciate not everyone can donate but you could do something even more amazing - you, or if you are not eligible, your kids, grandkids, nieces, nephews could join the bone marrow register and potentially save the life of someone with blood cancer. Joining the register is easy https://www.dkms.org.uk or www.anthonynolan.org
