Story
One year ago Dominic Sutton, a very close school friend of ours, passed away following a 7 year battle with cancer. In the weeks leading up to his passing he often commented that he was scared of what was to come and he could not remember the happy times that he experienced. The day before he died a group of us from school sat around his hospital bed and went through a selection of photos to recall some of those good times from the past - drunken nights out, a day at the cricket, holidays away, weddings. The one photo that really upset Dominic was one of him cycling to Paris in between some of his treatments to raise money for a cancer charity. He said that was one of his proudest moments, it was quite some achievement in light of the fact that he had just endured 4 months of high intensity chemo therapy.
To honour Dominic's memory one year on, a group of us,
Sam Monk
Bob Sharma
Jack Settle
Si Baker
Michael Gosden
Gordon Davidson
Jason Ricks
Ben Randall,
will be cycling with some of Dom's other friends and Dom's brother Matt, from London to Mount Snowdon in north Wales (about 400 miles) to scatter some of Dominic's ashes at the summit of the mountain. We are raising money for the Colorectal Unit at University College Hospital (UCH) that helped Dominic during his time of need. The unit is involved in research, training and innovation in all aspects of colorectal disease and we are aiming to raise £50k to kick start an initial research project.
We would be most grateful if you would support our efforts, so please dig deep and give generously.
