Story
Team Banana are walking the marathon (Walk The Test Way 2019) to raise money for Action for M.E. – a charity which is close to all of our hearts. One of our oldest and most wonderful friends has been battling with this horrible illness for over 18 months. She has been confined to her bed for most of this period, unable to see friends and missing from so many special occasions which we would have loved to have shared with her. We want to do something to show our love and support for her and everyone else whose life is on hold because of M.E.
M.E. (the chronic neurological condition myalgic encephalomyelitis) affects at least 250,000 people in the UK, and 35 million worldwide. Yet, little is known about what causes this illness and how it should be treated. Action for M.E. helps those with M.E. in the following ways:
Targeted information, support and advice for those suffering from M.E
Peer-support services which reduce the isolation that often accompanies M.E
Working with professionals and policy to improve access to appropriate care and support service
Collaborate with scientists, patients and clinicians to move biomedical research forward
Any support would be greatly appreciated, hopefully together we can help make a difference!
Please note our Just Giving page has been set up for "Rotary Club of Romsey Test Trust Fund" who are the organisers of this walk. After the walk, all the donations via JustGiving are paid to Rotary who will then distribute to our chosen charity (i.e. Action for M.E.).
