Story
Our daughter Anna was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma bone cancer last February. She has undergone intensive chemotherapy for the past year and had major surgery last May to remove the tumour and humerus from her left upper arm. The fibula from her right leg was then reconstructed to create a new upper arm and shoulder.
The treatment and care received at the Oxford Children's Hospital and the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre has been incredible. Every member of staff has been amazing and has supported our whole family. We are so grateful to them all.
Anna has now completed chemotherapy and she's just had her final 48th session of immunotherapy treatment. We are very pleased and relieved to say that she has now been given the all clear!
She has a few more weeks of appointments and treatment to fix a fracture in her shoulder and will continue long term with physiotherapy and regular check ups but she is doing really well and gaining strength every day. We are so incredibly proud of her.
To say thank you for her amazing care, Anna along with her family and brilliant friends took part in the OX5 RUN to raise vital funds.
At the start of treatment Anna lost her hair, so when we decided to join the OX5 RUN she thought it would be fun for all 50 Team Anna runners to wear silly wigs in support of all the brave patients who have lost their hair through treatment. It was a fantastic sight!
We are still continuing to raise as much as possible for this very worthy cause, a huge thanks for all your generous donations so far, we are truly grateful for your support.
