Story
Dear all,
On 6th October, eight Royal Marine Officer girlfriends and I are competing in the Royal Marines Commando 10K challenge to raise money for The C Group and the Devon Air Ambulance Trust. We aim to complete the course (which the Royal Marines use regularly in training) in high spirits and also to raise money for two very good causes.
The course is not just a 10K run, but also includes swimming through pitch black water filled tunnels, climbing under, over and across cargo nets, wading through waist high mud and finally being fully submerged in the sheep dip. I promise to send photographic evidence to all those who sponsor me!
C is for courage, character, community, casualty, commerce and care… The C Group supports any Royal Marine needing material, welfare or financial help. Their primary focus is to look after the wounded, help those in recovery and give them the means and support to rehabilitate and reintegrate. The C Group also mobilises the business and wider communities to support Royal Marines in active service and retired Royal Marines making the often difficult transition to civilian life.
The Devon Air Ambulance Trust is the charity which raises the funds to keep two emergency Air Ambulances flying. Their mission is to relieve sickness and injury in Devon in the provision of an Air Ambulance Service, but they cannot do this without donations from people like us.
In signing up for this challenge, I have committed myself to raising £60 but I want to raise much more than this. My employer will very kindly match donations made to my fundraising page so please dig deep and help these charities do more good work.
Isabelle x
PS - Don’t worry about only seeing the Devon Air Ambulance Trust on this fundraising page. They are the lead charity for the event as they handle all the administration but they will pass on the relevant monies to The C Group.
