Great North Run 2021 · 12 September 2021 ·

Our Team Purple runners are taking part in the biggest half marathon, the Great North Run, for Saint Michael's Hospice!

Story

We are running the Great North Run this year in memory of Susan Greenwood (nee Umpleby), a very special Mum and Auntie who sadly passed away back in 2001. She was kindly and compassionately cared for in her end of life by St Michael’s Hospice and we would like to raise money to say thank you, 20 years on.

Although we have fundraised at various events over the years, this is the big one that we planned to do in 2020 because it was Laura’s (Susan's daughter's) 40th birthday year. Due to obvious reasons this wasn’t meant to be, so we are ready to smash it in 2021! We are planning mini running challenges to help with our training and hope to organise some social events to give our fundraising a boost.

Thank you so much for supporting Team Umpleby in donating to St Michael’s Hospice, an amazing organisation which exists to improve the lives of people affected by terminal illness, both those living with these conditions and their families and carers.
