Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
This year, I have chosen Stroke.org.uk for our fundraising activities. Stroke is a unique condition. It strikes in an instant but its effects can last a lifetime. With the right treatment, care and support, stroke survivors can make a good recovery and maintain a good quality of life.
In 1987 my Mother suffered a stroke as a result of a ruptured cerebral aneurysm. She survived, but was severely disabled, never regaining full mobility or speech. I think aphasia, being ‘lost for words’ was the most difficult thing for her to bear. In 2002, she died after suffering a second stroke.
Stroke.org.uk are the UK's leading charity dedicated to conquering stroke.
Your support will change the lives of stroke survivors by funding vital services and life-saving research.
Their Resolution Run theme grabbed my attention, because over the festive period, I managed to gain half a stone and with shorter days and inclement weather, my running sessions have been few and far between. I resolve to lose that extra weight, get back out running and improve my general level of fitness. My daughter Melanie has agreed to join me in a series of Resolution Runs/Walks throughout March, as a warm up for our Potters ‘Arf Marathon in June.
