Peak District Mighty Hike

Fundraising for Macmillan Cancer Support
Back in August 2024 I went to the doctor as I was having discomfort in my left hand side. I was sent for multiple tests in August. One of these tests resulted in me being fast tracked on the cancer pathway to have a colonoscopy to rule out bowel cancer. Thankfully this came back clear. However, I still hadn't got an answer as to why I had discomfort. I went back and was sent for further tests, which all came back normal. I went back again as I still didn't have an answer, this time I was sent for an ultrasound. The ultrasound showed nothing on my left side, but showed a mass on my right kidney. I was again put on the fast track cancer pathway to investigate the mass. This mass was consequently diagnosed as kidney cancer. I have just had my right kidney removed (laparoscopic radical nephrectomy) at Addenbrookes. Hopefully the cancer was confined to my kidney and I will make a full recovery.
The support that has been offered to me has been extensive and such a lot of it has been through Macmillan. So, in July 2025, I have challenged myself (and Rob) to take on the Peak District 26 mile Mighty Hike to help raise money for people living with cancer.
I'd be so grateful if you could help me reach my pledge. £250 can pay for a Macmillan Nurse for one day. This could provide people living with cancer and their families essential medical, practical and emotional support.
There are currently 3 million people living with cancer in the UK today. It's Macmillan's goal to be there for everyone from the moment of diagnosis, but they can't do this without donations from people like you.
Thank you!
