Hello! Thanks for taking the time to read my story, I hope you find it interesting.

 

In September this year I will be running 250 km over 7 days through a remote region of madagascar. I will pass through jungle, beaches, rivers and be avoiding as many of the dangerous bugs and animals as possible. Throughout the run I will be carrying all my own food and equipment required to complete this journey.

My Story

Kate Steele was our much loved Wife, Mother, Sister, Aunty, Friend and Teacher. She was also a devoted Grandmother who loved nothing more than writing stories for her Grandchildren to read. When mum died of Cancer in April 2013 she left a series of books about “Pop”,  which are based on the antics of my dad. These books have given much joy to her own Grandchildren and now my family would like to share these stories with the world and raise money for a charity close to my mum while doing so.

 

Our Family and friends will be raising money throughout 2014 to pay for publishing these books. “ A collection of Stories by Kate Steele”. All proceeds from sales will benefit terminally ill children and their families, through THE KIRSTY APPEAL FOR FRANCIS HOUSE CHILDREN’S HOSPICE.

 

The children in the school where my Mum worked will be providing the illustrations for the book.

- Cycle from Paris to Blackbool

- Run an ultra marathon in Africa

- Complete a Triatholon in New zealand

- Run the Great Manchester race as a group (8 people and counting).

All proceeds to benefit terminally ill children and their families.

 

The Kirsty Appeal for Francis House Children’s Hospice.

 

The campaign is fronted by Kirsty Howard,  Kirsty as given 6 weeks to live when she was 4 yrs. old, and although attached to Oxygen 24hours a day Kirsty has defied her medical prognosis for 14 yrs. In that time she has raised well over £5 Million pounds for her Hospice. Kirsty is a truly inspirational girl who battles her own illness on a daily basis.

Francis House is a loving home where the corridors are filled with laughter, and the rooms flooded with light. Diana, Princess of Wales, opened the Hospice in 1991.

 

The latest project is to provide a new facility for Francis House; this is desperately needed to be able to offer extra support for more families of children with a short life expectancy. This special extension will provide existing families with extra days of care, and enable the hospice to extend that respite to some of the 900 families waiting.
