Story

Tom, Jack, Hannah and Celia (aka team Silvani Slugs) are running/ walking the Target Ovarian Cancer 10k in October.

Target provides invaluable support to anyone affected by ovarian cancer – patients, friends, family members – and the charity has really helped me following my mum’s diagnosis last September.

It also wants to raise funds to double ovarian cancer survival by 2050.

Unfortunately, two thirds of women are diagnosed once the cancer is advanced - including my mum. Too few people know what to watch out for.

The four main symptoms are:

  1. Persistent bloating
  2. Feeling full and/ loss of appetite
  3. Pelvic or abdominal pain
  4. Needing to wee more urgently or
    often than usual

We’re running to raise awareness and understanding of an illness so close to our lives – and something that affects 1 in 50 women in the UK.

Thank you for reading.
