Story
A few words from Steve's son Grant....
I want to help Back Onside organise this event in celebration of my Dad’s life – a legend to me and many others. A life cut too short because he couldn’t reach out- a choice that will always baffle me.
My Dad worked in the ambulance service – a job he absolutely loved, and we were so proud of him for doing it. In his job, he helped people in mental health crisis’s. He advised them how and where to get treatment so he was aware of the help he could have received but suffering was easier than talking. Taking his own life was easier than reaching out. This is NOT okay!
We cannot let this continue, we cannot let good people take their lives, we cannot let families be blown apart by this and go through what we are. We need to change the stigma around mental health. We need to raise awareness. We need to let everyone that it is okay to talk.
We are holding a Charity Football Match on Sunday 29th August 2021 at Laing Park, Carnoustie. Please keep an eye out on Back Onside's social media for more being announced soon.
In the meantime I would be so grateful if you could please donate whatever you can to my page and help raise funds for our day and allow Back Onside to continue doing the work they do.
