We are doing the Wigan10k to help raise much needed sponsorship for JoiningJack who fund research into Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. This disease affects mainly boys who are diagnosed around age 4 and from there-on-in their lives follow a pre-determined pathway of:
- progressive muscle loss,
- being wheelchair bound from age 10-12,
- gradual loss of all muscle function leading to them need significant help with ALL of their daily needs,
- gradual closing down of vital organs
- death from age 18-15…and sometimes sooner
Two children will be born with Duchenne every week in England & Wales; two people will die from Duchenne in England & Wales every week….. Duchenne is 100% fatal.
Please help us change this.
Jean and I are not runners, we never have been and we are finding training for this event very hard….but we won't give up - just as Jack's family will not give up on finding a cure.
