We are raising much needed funds to help fight Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

We are doing the Wigan10k to help raise much needed sponsorship for JoiningJack who fund research into Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. This disease affects mainly boys who are diagnosed around age 4 and from there-on-in their lives follow a pre-determined pathway of:

  • progressive muscle loss,
  • being wheelchair bound from age 10-12,
  • gradual loss of all muscle function leading to them need significant help with ALL of their daily needs,
  • gradual closing down of vital organs
  • death from age 18-15and sometimes sooner
Two children will be born with Duchenne every week in England & Wales; two people will die from Duchenne in England & Wales every week….. Duchenne is 100% fatal.

Please help us change this.

Jean and I are not runners, we never have been and we are finding training for this event very hard….but we won't give up - just as Jack's family will not give up on finding a cure.
