Story

10,000 miles, 21 counties & 75 days on the road
in a tiny hatchback! Team Mad Manx take on an unfathomably long, unorthodox and highly uncomfortable adventure known as The Mongol Rally.

This summer a group of naive and totally unprepared friends will embark on a Manic Motoring Mission by driving themselves all the
way from Mann to Mongolia. What better vehicle to utilise for this huge
challenge then than a twenty year old, three door hatchback?

From the moment they wedge themselves into their tiny car and bid farewell to the Isle of Man there will be no guidance, no support and no set route. All that stands between them and Mongolian steppe from then on in is seventy-five days of solid driving!

With the expectation of boarder bureaucracy, patchy internet reception and their own general un-organisation, nothing has been planned too far in advance. Team Mad Manx set off therefore without a single
pre-booked reservation. Where they hang their hat each night will be dictated by luck alone; be it the back of the car or a roadside ditch, they aren't going to make this easy for themselves!

Rolling up to the start line is the team's baby blue Toyota Starlet; lovingly owned from new by an amazing local lady who recently celebrated her one hundred and forth birthday!  Whilst this mighty machine isn't necessarily famed for its comfort, speed or styling; with a little luck and a strong tail wind it will soon carry four fully grown adults and all of their belongings across one third of the globe!  From the twists and turns of the Transfagarasan Highway (Romania), the impressive gradients of the Pamir Highway (Tajikistan) and the vast expanse of the Kazak grasslands; it’s all in a bid to support a truly worthwhile cause in Hospice Isle of Man….

Despite the inevitable setbacks we will face along the way, all of our troubles will pale into insignificance when compared to the challenges faced by those affected by life limiting illness. Help us therefore to support the magnificent work undertaken by the Hospice team as they provide palliative care and much need family support to the island's residents.

Rest assured that ALL funds raised will go directly to our nominated charity and will NOT be used to subsidise our own travel expenses, equipment and medical bills etc.

Have no spare cash to give? No problem, we'd still love it if you still got involved by following the journey on our blog, Facebook & insta.   Share our exploits with your friends and family to help us spread our message far and wide!
