Story
Hi. Thanks for stopping by.
Lisa's Story
We are both first timers to the marathon and, up until recently, I thought that the half marathon would be my limit. However, we crazily agreed to attempt this!
Prostate cancer is our chosen charity as it is a disease that has significantly affected both of our families and the families of friends.
Alex's Story
I've been running 10 kilometre races for many years, and I've never been able to bring myself to ask anyone for sponsorship, because, to be honest, I'm in OK shape so 10k isn't that big a deal to me, plus I'm not in the habit of fleecing people. I always hoped the day would come though that I'd be able to say "OK, I'm ready, hand it over and I'll (literally) give you a good run for your money". Well folks, that day is here.
Fundraising
We'd like to raise money for Prostate Cancer UK. Awareness of this form of cancer is on the up in the past few years, but early detection can dramatically improve a patient's prognosis. Prostate Cancer UK has a threefold mission: to provide the public with information about this disease, to help people affected by prostate cancer through their treatment, and to invest money into research about causes, tests and treatments.
The Gruelling Training Schedule
We've been training in ernest since February. Nearly every weekend, we've spent 3-5 hours plodding the paths around Sefton Park (always anti-clockwise), through all manner of weather. We've run numerous practice races of between 5 and 18k, plus the Liverpool Half Marathon along the way. We're ready.
Well...nearly. We've managed a 22 mile run, but 26.2 miles looks a long way off, and time is short. We need your help to get us through the final stretch!
It's time. Get us to the finish line guys. Donate.
