Story
In 2021 our colleague, John Davies, received the news that no parents are ever prepared for. His son, Roman, was diagnosed with Philadelphia Positive Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia just before his 6th birthday in August last year.
John tells his story below:
"Roman is a young man who truly loves life. He wakes up early and tries to go to bed late just to make the most of his days. On the 27th August in 2021, just before his 6th birthday, we received the devastating news that Roman was diagnosed with a rare form of Leukaemia known as Philadelphia Positive Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia. This form of Leukaemia is difficult to treat due to a mutation in the cancer cells. Therefore, Roman's treatment protocol consists of high dose chemotherapy in combination with TKIs (Tyrosine Kinase Inhibitors). The chances of relapse always remain high with this form of the disease and his current treatment plan will continue until the 27th August 2023, if all goes to plan.
Roman is a true fighter with immense determination and stamina. He suffers an array of side effects caused by the treatment which will continue to affect him far into the future.
The battle will never be over for Roman."
Please support us and donate what you can. Liam and Tony will take to the skies on the 25th November, facing a free fall of 60 seconds over the Salisbury countryside. Nerves will be heightened and the fear will be real, but the pair are determined to make the leap of faith and complete this extreme challenge.
