Story
Bridgewood Farms was founded 55 years ago by leaders passionate for ensuring that people with intellectual and developmental disabilities reach their highest potential!
Our focus is on quality programs, continuing education, ensuring a safe and productive environment, and providing peace of mind for our families and clients.
We love our time in Horticulture! Bridgewood Farms markets poinsettias each fall for the holiday season and grows vegetables in the spring, in addition to propagating ornamental plants for use indoors or out. We have a great client crew that assists with keeping our grounds neat and tidy also across our 52 acres of property! As in other Bridgewood Farms programs, each person’s skills, abilities and interests are assessed to make sure they enjoy and succeed in the tasks with which they help. Not everyone can operate a riding lawn mower, but some can. Some like getting their hands dirty, while others would rather not! But there is something everyone who is interested in Horticulture can do!
We have a typical in-ground garden area, raised beds, and two large greenhouses. We are grateful to Montgomery County Community Foundation for their grant that enabled Bridgewood Farms to make much needed repairs to one of our greenhouses this past year. A key element of our ability to GROW this program includes funding for repairs to the second greenhouse and replacing our aging equipment – including our tractor and riding lawnmowers. Funds to help us do this will allow our Horticulture Program to THRIVE!
