Simplyhealth Great North Run 2019 · 8 September 2019 ·

Our incredible #TeamMyelomaUK will be taking on 13.1 miles to help make myeloma history.

Story

Earlier this year our Dad, brother-in-law, friend and uncle, Charles Hedley, was diagnosed with myeloma. Myeloma is a cancer arising from plasma cells, and is currently incurable. Myeloma UK is the only organisation in the UK dealing exclusively with myeloma. Their ultimate goal is to find a cure.

Rosie, Claire, Lucy and Jonny are running the Great North Run alongside our fantastic family and friends Ben, John Owen, Richard, Alice, Claire, Olivia, Diane, Alex and James to raise money for Myeloma UK and support Dad during his treatment.

Dad is currently undergoing chemotherapy. When he was in his 20's he ran the GNR in 1 hour 26 minutes!! Don't be expecting times like this from us (although Jonny rates himself!) but we'll be giving it our best shot in the hope of raising as much money as possible for Myeloma UK.

Myeloma UK receive no government funding and rely almost entirely on voluntary donations and fundraising. Help us raise money for Myeloma UK, to support patients and families with their diagnosis of myeloma, and to help fund research into promising new treatments.
