We are taking on the challenge of climbing the Yorkshire Three Peaks in support of Ashgate Hospicecare. 

At 24.5 miles and 1,500m of ascent this is going to be a tough walking challenge. To put it another way, we will be walking almost a marathon distance and climbing higher than Ben Nevis in under 12 hours. It’s an extremely tough and challenging day, both physically and mentally, and we will be training hard to be fully prepared for the challenge.

Ashgate Hospicecare is a charity  that provides compassionate, specialist palliative and end of life care, free of charge, to patients with a life-limiting illness and their families across North Derbyshire.

Their vision is that everyone in North Derbyshire with a
life-limiting illness, and the people important to them, can make the most of every moment together and that they can die with dignity and comfort.

2020 was the most challenging year in the Hospice’s 30 year
history, and going into 2021 our retail shops and cafes are closed again and many fundraising events have been cancelled or postponed. The Coronavirus pandemic has left a £2.4 million hole in our revenue.

The pandemic is still putting pressure on the hospice
services. Ashgate Hospicecare have announced that they are to redeploy nursing staff from other areas of the hospice to ramp up staffing levels on their 21-bedded inpatient unit. This move will enable an increase in admissions from Chesterfield Royal Hospital and the wider community.
