Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit Team Duchenne's JustGiving page.
My five year old son, Kiran, was diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy two years ago. Kiran is a fantastic boy and loves playing with his little brother Kai, but he faces difficult challenges ahead and the funds that we raise will go directly to support research to find effective treatments for this terrible, life-limiting muscle wasting disease.
Last year, Team Duchenne ran the Berlin Marathon and raised over £10,000 for Action Duchenne to fund vital research to find treatments for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. This year Team Duchenne aims to help fund this groundbreaking research by facing a series of new challenges throughout the year.
The year began with Kiran's uncle Justin competing in the North East Triathalon in freezing conditions in March, and in April, Auntie Caroline ran the Snowdonia Half Marathon. Things really get going on 11th May when Dad Kevin together with Uncles Ollie and Justin take part in the Clumber Park Duathalon Classic - a 10K run followed by a 40K cycle and a 5K run to finish, but if that wasn't enough, Justin and Ollie are both running in the Sheffield Half Marathon the very next day! Uncle St.John joins the team to run his first ever 10K race in London on 27th May, together with Kiran's mum Penny and then Justin and Ollie will be taking on the ultimate endurance challenge of the Iron Man Competition on 1st June!!
We will all be facing a series of futher challenges over the summer and Autumn and we'll be looking for all the support we can get to help keep our spirits high and reach our 2013 fundraising target.
