2021 Alive and Kicking Charity Tournament · 1 October 2021

Alive and Kicking is a not for profit ball manufacturer. Through the production of sports balls we create employment for adults from vulnerable job groups. We then use profits from ball sales, additional fundraising and partnership development to deliver sport and health education programmes.

Story

Eight colleagues at the Capital Group in London are raising money by competing in Alive and Kicking's charity fundraiser football tournament on Friday, 1st of October at Powerleague Shoreditch.

Alive and Kicking is an incredible organisation that makes durable footballs and rugby balls in Kenya, Zambia, and Ghana. The balls are made locally in each country, creating jobs by both making the balls and selling them in the local market.

Since their founding in 2004, Alive and Kicking have made over 900,000 balls in sub-Saharan Africa and have donated over 175,000 of these to various local schools and youth organizations. Because the balls are handmade with thick, durable leather, these balls last up to 8 times longer than traditional synthetic footballs that are most commonly donated. This extra durability means they estimate their balls have reached over 7,875,000 young people!

In addition to donating these balls for play, they also use the opportunity to train coaches and teachers to deliver vital health and wellbeing educational programmes in the community.

100% of all money raised will go directly to Alive and Kicking for their charitable work in Kenya, Zambia, and Ghana. Thank you for your support!
