Story
We are the Thurston family plus a fantastic group of wonderful friends, who have decided, for the 5th year running, to get up at 3am on the 2nd June 2019, children and adults alike, and walk 20km through beautiful South West London. We are doing this in memory of our beautiful Anders, who we lost 8 years ago, we miss every day and we always will.
During this difficult time, and ever since, the support we have received from Shooting Star Chase has been an unquantifiable lifeline for us. This walk, and all the money that we hope to raise in doing it, is also our thank you to them.
What makes the walk (an enormous 20km for our little people, some of whom are as young as 8) particularly special is that many of Anders's friends will be taking part. It's the fifth amazing year in a row that we will embark on this journey together, and the 6th for Anders's twin brother Stefan. For 20km we will talk, laugh, cry, play word games, chat about sport and video games and everything else under the dawn sun, and most of all we will think of Anders, who will be beside us all the way.
The Sunrise Walk has so far attracted over 2,000 walkers who have raised an impressive £350,000 for Shooting Star Chase children's hospice.By taking part in the Richmond Sunrise Walk 2019 we will be helping them to reach their target of £80,000 so they can continue providing a lifeline for parents, siblings and other family members who are coping with the devastating loss of a child.
