Story

Goodwood - Calais - Frankfurt - Prague - Krakow - Lviv - Kiev - Bolgorad - Samara - Ufa - Chelyabinsk - Omsk - Irkutsk - Ulaanbaatar.

Two retired company directors, Marcus Nimmo and Jim Edgeworth, have formed a team to take part in the 2010 Mongol Rally- "Team Alliance"

The rally is a sponsored charity event of some 10,000miles, leaving on 24th July 2010 from Goodwood in England and hopefully, arriving some 4 weeks later in Ulaanbaatar, the capital of Mongolia.

Team Alliance has set a target of raising £25,000 in aid of several childrens charities.  With your help, this money will be put to good use helping some of the most disadvantaged children

Around 200  teams, from all over the world,  take part in the Mongol Rally, with vehicles as diverse as Fiat Pandas and Fire Engines. The private cars are auctioned off by the charities in Ulaanbaatar to raise additional funds while the emergency vehicles, which are desperately needed, are donated directly to the emergency services.  We have decided to take a Front Line Ambulance which will be of tremendous help to a country with very limited resources.

We are aiming to raise at least £500 for the Christina Noble Children's Foundation.

All money donated will go directly to CNCF's Ger Village project, a shelter for abandoned children and orphans on the outskirts of Ulaanbaatar. This is one of five integrated programs the charity operates in the country,  providing a healthy and nurturing environment for children in need of care.

A 'Ger' is a traditional felt tent of the Mongolian peoples, with fourteen of these constituting the village. Ten residential gers are staffed by a Ger Mother, often a single-parent, who creates a loving home for the children. Older children help to care for the younger, and assist their ger mother with domestic chores. At school age the children are enrolled alongside their peers at the local district school.

Wherever possible the Foundation seeks to reunite children with their families and assist the family in facing the future together through mutual love and support.

To put things into perspective - since 2004 donations have enabled the charity to build (amongst other things): a toilet and shower block, a cookhouse with dining area, a library and also to establish a 'Grow Our Own' food program.
