UPDATE 29 May: We did it! All 8 cyclists completed the cycle with the killer climb up to the finishing point at Malin Head.
Thanks to everyone for their support and sponsorship, which kept us going over the final very hard miles and yards. (And thanks to Mr & Mrs Guinness for keeping us fuelled throughout the trip).
Team Lochwinnoch is Roger Carter, John Delaney, John Reid & John Paul Delaney.
We are joining forces with our Irish friends on their CT Memorial Cycle in memory of two young members of the Flanagan family who sadly passed away in the last year.
The Flanagan family are raising funds separately in Ireland for two local charities. All the money we raise will go directly to Teenage Cancer Trust (TCT). Team Lochwinnoch is supporting the new TCT West of Scotland campaign to raise the £1/2m needed to build the new Hospital Unit in Glasgow for 13 to 16 year olds.
The Delaney family and friends have been raising money for TCT since Andrew (John's son and John Paul's brother) died of cancer in 2003, one month before his 16th birthday. There was no specialist cancer care for teenagers and young people when Andrew needed it, so the family looked after him at home.
The CT Memorial Cycle is a tough challenge - a 450-mile route from the southern tip of Ireland at Mizen Head - up the mountainous west coast - to the most northerly point at Malin Head - and all in 5-days!
There is no way any of us are fit enough to tackle this challenge - not even "the boy" - so please help us along the way by sponsoring us as generously as you can.
