Story
Please help me raise as much money as possible to support this fabulous charity to stop this horrible disease.
23rd July 2020 I lost my beloved Dad, Chris Rose, to Alzheimer’s. He was always a fit and healthy man but in his mid 60’s we started to notice changes in him that were more than old age creeping in, he was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and lost his battle at the young age of 73. He was taken far too early from all of us and we miss him dearly. Many of you reading this now will be his family, friends, ex-colleagues or people who just had the pleasure to know him. You will all know what a lovely, funny and friendly man he was and he didn’t deserve to be taken from from us in the most degrading horrendous way he was.
One year later another great man in my life, my father in-law Lyn Lapsley also passed away because of Alzheimer’s. Lyn was a lovely quiet, gentle and caring man who was also much loved by everyone who knew him, especially his family. He was a very private man, who like my dad, would of been horrified if he knew how he was going to end his final months and how much he would depend on wives, children, grandchildren, other family and professional's to provide care and tend to their every need.
So now it’s my turn to join thousands of others by setting myself a huge challenge by running a marathon, YES ME running a marathon!! The chubby middle aged bald man who has never been sporty who loves nothing more than drinking beer and wine whilst eating all the wrong foods! However, I am so looking forward to rising to this challenge to help raise awareness of this b@stard disease and raise as much money as possible to help Alzheimer’s Society research into finding a cure! You never know, when you’re older it could be your partner or children putting you in the bath and to bed because you’ve lost the ability to do so, help me help Alzheimer’s Society prevent that…
Thank you so much for your support Xxx
