Story

Neils Story in his own words

I am Neil Taylor and 32 years old.

I married my beautiful wife Alex in June last year. What an amazing year 2016 was. Toward the end of 2016 I received the best news any man could get... Alex is pregnant :) WOW!

We are having a baby girl. The perfect end to a perfect year. She is due in August, so much to look forward to.

In December Alex awoke me from my sleep and I couldn't move, a few minutes later I regained movement, I had a seizure in my sleep. We went to the doctors and he told us everyone can have 1, so don't worry, you won't get another. It was almost like a panic attack. Very scary.
However 26/27th December I had another one in my sleep.

The doctors referred me to a neurologist to have an MR Scan. She said she was 50/50 between night terrors and epilepsy. I thought omg I could have epilepsy and have my license taken off me for around a year.

Monday 20th Feb- neurologist calls us in. It was bad news. I have a tumour in my brain and it was showing a change under contrast. The neurologist was as upset as we were. Our lives would change from this point.

I was booked in for a craniotomy on 15th March and home by the 17th. Seems my positivity is helping. I want to fight this.
On the 22nd march I had an appointment for the biopsy results, feeling confident we were not expecting the results we received.

It has mutated into a grade 3 astrocytoma.

A disease that is Incurable.

World upside down. Seeing my Wife and Mums faces on that day was something no Man should see and I have a baby due in months and I have incurable brain cancer 5-20 years at best. How do you even comprehend something like that??

I started radiotherapy and chemotherapy on 10th April.

Here's a bit of info on brain tumours, I didn't realise the figures until I did some research.

Brain tumours kill more children and adults under the age of 40 than any other cancer… yet just 1% of the national spend on cancer research has been allocated to this devastating disease. This is unacceptable!

I am fundraising for Brain Tumour Research as they are the only national charity dedicated to funding long-term, sustainable research in the UK. Please help me fund the fight. Together we will find a cure.

We would like everyone to donate what they can, over the coming months, as we put on numerous sporting events, calendars, etc to help NEIL fight this horrible disease. To become one of #TAYLORWARRIORS  just like Neil is being EVERYDAY!!!

Neil has already raised a massive £10,000 via his personal just giving page. With so many of his family & friends giving their time and money. LETS KEEP THIS MOMENTUM GOING
