Story

As you all know after 2 years battling brain cancer our baby lost her fight this year and broke all our hearts by leaving us on the 16th January 2022. A date we will never forget. It’s been the hardest few months of our lives and it’s not getting any easier but we made a promise to continue to support Abby’s heroes for Taylor as she loved this charity dearly so here we are prepping for another race and the teams gotten even bigger!

Last year we signed up to run for Abby’s Heroes vowing to raise every penny back they gave us to help during treatment & more so they could continue to help other families like ours. Well, we raised an incredible amount and had the most amazing day with our baby girl at the finish line waving us across. So we signed straight back up…

Kayleigh, Clare , Remy & Big Steve (and I think we may have a few more sign ups coming!) are set to take on the 10k and the half with Abby’s Heroes’s proudly on our chest and Taylors spirit in our hearts. It’s going to break our hearts that she won’t be there waving us across this year but I know each of us are carrying a piece of her with us as we push through another challenge as Taylor’s Dream Team

Throughout the course of the last 2 years we have seen and felt the impact this charity makes on the lives of families like ours, it’s immense and takes away some of the huge financial pressures associated with childhood cancer, leaving you time to be there for your child and deal with the emotional heartache that diagnosis leaves you with. Sally & the team have helped us out on many occasions not just financially but emotionally as well, becoming our friends in the process. They’ve helped us create some everlasting memories, helped Kayleigh through some crappy nights on the ward, created magic throughout PB for the children, helped feed the parent, snack boxes in the ward, pizza nights, days out…. They are just genuinely outstanding.

So please donate what you can as we dust off the running shoes in prep for the big day 24th April & please feel free to join us on the day, this one’s gonna take all the support we can get!

Much love

Taylor’s Dream Team

Abbys Heroes, a Hampshire childrens cancer charity, is there for families when a child is diagnosed with cancer, as it has a devastating impact on the physical, financial and emotional health and wellbeing of the whole family, both during and after treatment and beyond. Our charity supports children and their families receiving cancer treatment at Piam Brown Ward or the Teenage and Young Adult Unit at University Hospital Southampton, the Regional Centre for Paediatric Oncology and Haematology from the Wessex Region (which includes Hampshire and the Isle of Wight, Dorset, Wiltshire, Surrey, West Sussex and the Channel Islands).
