Story
I am so glad you are choosing to read this story, my story. I accepted Christ when I was just 9 years old and have always done my best to try to follow what He tells me. Of course 15 years later, I am still trying to be like Christ in all that I do. I continuously love on others, especially children. Children are so much more receptive to the word of God. They have so much wonder in their eyes and can’t believe what they are hearing and feeling. They have yet to have hardened hearts from the world. New Christians that are children are so inspiring. They can bring so much joy to their family and friends.
An important aspect of being a Christian is loving everybody. I know God calls me to love and motivate others who are falling off the wagon or are hesitant about Him. A part of that love is why I am teaming up with others to help fundraise for the refugees in Kakuma. For scripture says, “My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you” (John 15:12).
Kakuma Refugee Camp was established in 1992 near Kenya's border with South Sudan. It was a place of refuge for unaccompanied minors fleeing warring factions in what was then southern Sudan. Today, Kakuma Refugee Camp has more than 225,000 refugees from nine countries including South Sudan, Sudan, Somalia, Rwanda and Burundi. It is estimated that more than 50 percent of refugees are youth and children (reliefweb, 2022).
Right now there are 50 refugees who strongly desire to take the ministry and community development courses offered in the camp by Nation-2-Nation Christian University. All they need is $10 each to cover the costs of the book that accompanies the semester one program. $10 worth of notebooks for each of the 50 students will reach a $500 goal.
We're raising money for refugees to receive training in ministry and community development bringing them hope and the tools to transform their nation. I cannot wait to see how God will transform lives!
Eternally His,
Taylor Vickers
