Story
Thanks for visiting our Just Giving page.
1st August this year will mark the 9 year anniversary of the death of Josh, our much loved son, brother and friend, the loss of whom has left a huge void in all our lives. This year is also the year that would have been Josh’s 30th birthday.
On 31st July, in memory of Josh, the Taylor-Penwarden Team will be taking on the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge, a distance of 24.5 miles (39.2 km) and an ascent of approximately 5000 feet (1600 metres).
Our team includes Deb (Josh’s Mum), Nick (Josh’s Dad), and Joe (Josh’s brother), AKA The Taylors, together with Katie (Joe’s girlfriend) and Charlie (Josh’s good friend, who also happens to be Katie’s brother!), AKA The Penwardens.
We will be taking on this Challenge alongside other bereaved parents and siblings who will also be walking in memory of their loved ones.
As well as the physical challenge of the event, we will be trying to raise as much money as we can for The Good Grief Project, a Charity which offers support to bereaved parents and siblings, including their Active Grief Retreat Weekends (see link below). All monies raised will help fund these retreats, particularly for those bereaved parents and siblings on lower incomes who would otherwise not be able to attend these invaluable weekends.
We know through personal experience how important it is to find such support among those who have been similarly bereaved, especially in the very early stages of such a loss.
All Charities have faced huge financial difficulties over the past year in having little or no opportunity to actively fundraise. For smaller Charities such as The Good Grief Project, it has been especially challenging.
Any donation, however small, you are able to make to help us support this incredible Charity will be hugely appreciated by us, and especially by The Good Grief Project, to help them continue their important work.
Thank you for your support.
Deb, Nick, Joe, Katie and Charlie
